How to sign this release
A parent or legal guardian signs this release. The minor it covers does not sign it themselves; that is the whole point of the instrument. Until the signing control is available in household settings, email safety@outdoorithmcollective.org with the name and date of birth of the person this covers, which of the permissions below you give, your own name and relationship to them, and the date. We will confirm in writing what we recorded.
You do not have to sign anything to be part of the Collective, and you may say yes to one permission and no to the other.

I am the parent or legal guardian of the person named above. I am signing this release in my own name and on that person's behalf.
I give Outdoorithm Collective, a California nonprofit corporation, permission to photograph and record that person during Outdoorithm Collective trips, events, and programs, and to use their name, photograph, likeness, voice, and image as I indicate below.
Community and editorial use
Outdoorithm Collective may use these images inside the Collective and in non-promotional accounts of our programs: trip albums and recaps shared with members, the members' area of our platform and mobile app, communications to members and households, and reports to funders and regulators describing our charitable work.
One thing to know about how these are stored today: images in trip albums and recaps are served from links that are not guessable but are also not individually access-checked, so someone given the link could open the image without signing in. We are moving this content behind per-request access checks. If that matters to you, say so and we will keep this person out of shared albums until it is done.
Advertising, fundraising, and promotional use
Outdoorithm Collective may additionally use these images in materials that promote the Collective or solicit support: our public website, social media accounts, printed and digital advertising, donation and fundraising appeals, membership recruitment materials, grant applications, and press materials.
This permission is optional and separate. You may say yes to community use and no to promotional use. If you do not give this permission, we will not use images of this person in any of the materials listed in this paragraph.

Signature, date, and relationship to the person named above are recorded with the release.
Section 17 of our Terms of Service describes how we use photographs generally. Section 7 of our Privacy Policy describes how we handle them as personal information. This release is what governs outward-facing use of an identifiable person under 18, as California Civil Code section 3344 requires.
If another member posts a photograph in which someone in your household appears and you want it removed, write to us and we will remove it from our platform. We cannot remove copies that others have already downloaded, shared, or reposted elsewhere.
This release controls over the trip waiver. The liability waiver signed before a trip contains a short media paragraph granting permission for promotional use. For anyone under 18, that paragraph is not the permission we rely on. We use an image of an identifiable person under 18 in advertising, fundraising, promotional, or recruitment material only where a parent or legal guardian has given the promotional permission in this release. Signing the trip waiver does not give it, and declining it here withdraws it.
